Ohhh-- soooooo cute and darling are these little girl fashions. I simply adore them!

 Damselfly makes luxury dresses for girls aged 2 - 12 years. 

 Their collections combine the finest fabrics with a vintage aesthetic to create an effortless grace reminiscent of the early 20th century. 

Our design philosophy is rooted in a few simple beliefs:

When we say chiffon we mean silk chiffon (not polyester) and when we use tulle, it’s silk tulle, (not nylon).

 We believe that something precious was lost when mass production and big brands took over the making of our children’s clothes.

That there is a special pleasure to be found in bringing our design and cutting experience to bear on creating small garments with exquisite details.

That to be genuinely beautiful, a piece of clothing must not have harmed the earth or been made by exploiting people. 

We use sustainable fabric and control our own production here in England.

Our collection combines stylish, vintage-inspired cutting with hand finished details which are individually designed to complement each piece. We incorporate beautiful features from centuries gone by and then add our own original twist to create Damselfly’s unique take on everyday luxury. Nothing is put into production unless we love the sample so much that we have to go back into the workroom at the end of the day for one last look.

Everything is made here at our own production unit in Shropshire. We are constantly striving to create garments which have the feel of those produced by the dressmakers and couturiers of the early 20th century. We often finish hems by hand and add hand embroidered details. We use a 'whole garment' system, so rather than repeat the same action over and over again as is the case in large factories, our seamstresses work on the whole piece. That way the quality of the finished garment is consistently high and the maker can feel proud of what they produce.

We often use fabrics of such quality that they are not usually found in children's wear, our Italian silk brocade this season being a case in point. We don't buy into the idea that the finest fabrics are too good for children. Rather we believe that what we love for ourselves is also right for our daughters. We never use polyester because we don't wear it ourselves. We always use organic fabric whenever a suitable quality is available and are proud to be showcasing a new organic silk satin crepe this spring. A special treat for the most discerning of our customers is the range of vintage silk pieces that are available only while stocks last.

For us, it's about the best of everything - fabrics, trimmings, embroider, finishes, cuts. It’s not about mass production. It’s about putting time into the making and adding original touches by hand.
